About Us

Bayoh Lodge

As the sun sets on the vast expanse of the Bakun Lake, the golden light falls on the hidden gem of Belaga;

The Bayoh Lodge.

This serene getaway is surrounded by tranquil waters, evergreen Bayoh trees and the pleasant hum of rainforest life.

Named after the emerald green Bayoh leaf, the Bayoh Lodge is a peaceful escape from city life as you knew it. Live in a lodge surrounded by the prime rainforests of Borneo, with every plank of this lodge hand-hewn from the surrounding forest trees, the electricity from the sun overhead, and the water supplied from a nearby spring.

Escape the frenzy, into the peace of the Bayoh life, and view our Accommodations now!

The Bayoh Lodge was built by Thomas Balan and his family, as a joint effort from his mother to his children. Ever since the controversial 1998 "Operation Exodus" that displaced the Bakun natives into resettlement schemes in order to make way for the creation of the Bakun Dam, the local Kayan and other indigenous communities have longed to return to their native lands. Now, as the Bakun reservoir has filled, they are returning, building and taking back the land of their forefathers.
